About me
In 2015, Rachel Wheeler was appointed Head of Serials Acquisitions for the Indiana University Libraries. She started working for the IU Libraries in 2003 as the Cataloger and Technical Services Liaison for the IU campus dorm libraries. This opportunity gave her the chance to catalog a wide variety of materials such as VHS, Blu-rays, HD DVDs, CDs, board games, monographs, etc. However, the one thing missing in Rachel’s life was working with serials... This changed in 2012 when she was hired as the Electronic Resources Cataloger for the IU Libraries and served as a CONSER/NACO Serials Cataloger. Rachel also assisted with the creation of non-MARC metadata and served as Text Encoding Quality Control Manager for the Indiana Authors and Their Books project.
Currently, she manages the Serials Ordering and Serials Receiving teams and works closely with the Electronic Resources Acquisitions unit to help troubleshoot access challenges and manage title transfers. Her hobbies include hiking, camping, thrifting, and reminding others that “Print is not dead.”
